Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition partnered with the City of Largo, Pinellas County Schools, Pinellas County School Board, and Florida Transportation Systems (FTS) to host an electric school bus demonstration and ride.

Members of the public, school board members, electric officials, local governments, and fleet directors from around the region joined TBCCC for the event. Speakers highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of electric buses to the region, including their ability to reduce harmful NOx emissions and improve local air quality.

The demonstration also showcased both the clean energy and operational capabilities of the electric bus as it looped around Largo Central Park. The Blue Bird Vision Electric school bus, equipped with CumminsPowerDrive, delivers zero-emission driving with up to 120 miles of electric range on a single charge.

This initiative is part of a nationwide campaign to upgrade older diesel school bus models with lower-emission technologies to reduce exposure of harmful diesel exhaust. In Florida, funding for the electrification of school buses is being made available through state and federal opportunities.
